Geoffrey Strahan
Geoffrey Strahan - Early 20th Century Watercolour, Rustic Courtship

Unknown

About the Item

A romantic scene depicting two lovers embracing in a meadow after a day's work. Propping their scythe and rake over their shoulders, the couple brush past wheat crop and poppies as they walk with their back to the moon. This is an unusual work for Geoffrey Strahan, who specialised in mountain landscape studies. It gives an interesting insight into the artist's alternative, more personal subject matters. Signed to the lower right. Well presented in an oak frame with a blue mount and gilt slip. On paper.
