About the Item
NO SENSE - 2018

Dimensions: 24 x 30 cms

Cut out stickers, stick stickers and drop ink stains "... This is how Christophe Stouvenel says" KIKI "defines his No Sense series.
Surrealist inspired and Dada, everything starts from the idea of assembling on paper grain, in the manner of a child but with the rigor of an adult, elements as disparate as shreds of
old papers or sheet music, rides tickets, old labels, negative photos etc ... and without any direct relationship between them.
To these selected elements, cut, glued, organized, the artist "collagist" for the occasion, randomly adds ink china tasks and color stickers.
With this choice of expression format for his "No Sense" (that he structures all in the same way, under the same type of frame in matte black, and without ever giving them a name), "KIKI" makes
tribute to old paper, these newspapers or old books dating from the years 1900/1930 as well as those of the 80s, periods from which it draws an inexhaustible inspiration.
This series therefore exists only in that it has no definite meaning, that it is not limited in any way whatsoever.

- Large Animal Wall Sculpture: 'Wormhole'By Gin StoneLocated in New York, NY'I am a multidisciplinary artist with a focus on ecofeminism using fiber and mixed media constructions. My materials include hand-dyed commercially fished line and ghost gear, recycled and antique textiles, fabric printed with cyanotype emulsions and found objects. I change the existing surface of recognizable animals by creating a veneer of unexpected color and imagery. This forces the viewer to consider the shape more carefully by visually exploring its new topography. The creation process can be likened to painting with fiber (that has been tinted with hand-mixed dyes) on a three-dimensional canvas. Intense work is spent creating the eyes and ears to convey the emotion of each animal. I look to the work of Joan Mitchell and The Quilters of Gee’s Bend as inspiration for pattern and color, as well as charts, iconography, and satellite imaging.' -Gin Stone...Category
