Crystal DiPietro
Rainbow Ridges, Original Painting

2023

About the Item

Artist Comments
Colorful ridges and mountains bring layers of contrast to the scene, while light and shadows accentuate the ruggedness of the terrain. Expressive strokes capture the dynamic textures and energy of the desert. Painted en plein air in the Rainbow Gardens area near Las Vegas, artist Crystal DiPietro utilizes watercolor, ink, gouache, and pencil to create this piece.

About the Artist
Artist Crystal DiPietro paints majestic sceneries inspired by her personal trips to beautiful untamed places. She creates landscapes as rugged and dramatic—setting her style apart from the usual soft and delicate perspectives of the genre. Crystal pursued art school in Washington, D.C., where she got to go behind the scenes in major galleries and explore hiking, a huge source of her work inspiration. She composes her work with bold natural views in unique angles, vibrant colors, and loose brushstrokes. With her own photography used as a reference, Crystal expresses the details in her paintings slowly, in layers, the same way a photograph develops. “I intend to show a subtle beauty where the viewer may never have thought to look,” says Crystal. Her work hovers between capturing a brief dream and a contemplative impression of the scene. She achieves this by allowing viewers to come away with new respect and appreciation for the worlds around them.

  • Pink Crush, Original Painting
    By Jodi Dann
    Located in San Francisco, CA

    Artist Comments
A pink spring-flowering bulb defies its seasonal nature and blooms in the fall. Its leaves brushed with gold paint, emerge from a green vase made from stamped papers. The bold colors and varying textures, made with glued leaves, some stamping, and carved marks, add dynamic energy to the composition.

    About the Artist
In 1999, Jodi Dann seized the opportunity to become a full-time painter. Today, her paintings read like hazy memories of imagined faraway places. The compositions are abstract, but possess strong architectural elements, recalling bridges, arches, and doorways. Each piece retains an overall sense of place without prescribing a location, allowing the viewer to form an individualized connection with the work. Jodi paints from her cozy studio on her property in Oregon while listening to a variety of music on Pandora. She doesn’t feel the need to strive for perfection in her work. “Life isn’t perfect,” says Jodi. “Why force a painting to be?”
