About the Item
Esmeralda Kosmatopoulos is a multi-disciplinary conceptual artist.
?
She has lived her life surrounded by unique cultures—born in Greece, raised in Paris—she now lives and works in NY. Her work investigates the definition and construction of identities, personal memories and collective histories in the digital age. Influenced by the increasing interplay between physical and virtual spaces, Kosmatopoulos decontextualize everyday-life objects, cultural symbols and behaviors and translates them into the Internet and social media world.
Her work has exhibited in the United States, Canada, Europe and Latin America. Kosmatopoulos also worked alongside socially charged entities such as the Organization of American States (OAS) to create large-scale installations that raise awareness on social issues.
