Eugene Healy
An American artist, Eugene Healy is an abstract artist, who grasped the concept of significant form; He also served as a curator, beginning in the late 1970s. Many of Healy's meticulous collage paintings are abstractions of beach and shore scenes of Connecticut and New England being places that have evoked particular moods and feelings in him. His mediums range from oil, watercolor, encaustic, oil crayon, lacquers, colored pencil applied to fragments of canvas, boards and paper. Healy's early primary influences were Matisse, Vermeer, Diebenkorn, Rauschenberg, Hoffman and the Fauve painters. He began to collage, when he was just 13 years old. He studied painting at the New York Institute of Technology and earned his BFA in 1972.
