Ivan Lolli and Mario Memmoli
"Caifa Circular" Design Ivan Lolli and Mario Memmoli Crystal Chandelier

2007

About the Item

A stalactite in crystal, the Milanese suspension lamp provides diffused light with circular decreasing sections as it descends in pendants of crystalline octagons arranged artistically on several levels. Created by the architects Ivan Lolli and Mario Memmoli, the Italian lighting design brand Lolli e Memmoli produces true architectures of light that deconstruct the traditional crystal chandelier, enhancing it with a contemporary identity. Inspired by the motto "evolution and coherence", Lolli e Memmoli relies on the handwork of skilled craftsmen who give life to a collection of aesthetically free and colored lighting solutions, made possible by an innovative coupling system of the crystals, which seem suspended in air. Light passes through a dematerializing mass cascading toward the ground drop by drop like a hanging limestone stalactite. Each band of crystals is layered below its predecessor, stratifying an increasingly transparent sheath down to the last pendant, seemingly frozen in the ultimate moment of skillful exploit, just in time to skim the floor. Each Lolli e Memmoli lamp is a unique piece made entirely by hand. Each lamp is subjected to strict quality control that guarantees its perfect integrity and functionality. Any imperfections are to be considered an intrinsic characteristic of the product and an expression of its unique and artisanal character. Each lamp has an authenticity plate of the brand. For each lamp, a certificate of originality is provided with a numbered and authenticated hologram identical to the one affixed to the structure of the lamp. Lolli and Memmoli lamps are Made in Italy products, entirely made in Italy with components of preferential Italian origin. • Large Animal Wall Sculpture: 'Wormhole'
    By Gin Stone
    Located in New York, NY
'I am a multidisciplinary artist with a focus on ecofeminism using fiber and mixed media constructions. My materials include hand-dyed commercially fished line and ghost gear, recycled and antique textiles, fabric printed with cyanotype emulsions and found objects. I change the existing surface of recognizable animals by creating a veneer of unexpected color and imagery. This forces the viewer to consider the shape more carefully by visually exploring its new topography. The creation process can be likened to painting with fiber (that has been tinted with hand-mixed dyes) on a three-dimensional canvas. Intense work is spent creating the eyes and ears to convey the emotion of each animal. I look to the work of Joan Mitchell and The Quilters of Gee’s Bend as inspiration for pattern and color, as well as charts, iconography, and satellite imaging.' -Gin Stone...
