Artist Keith Thomson depicts the Mets mascot riding the train—once again establishing his recurring narrative of unexpected commuters in transit. "With their mosaics of chrome, wildly varying colors, and refracted light, subway cars are an impressionist's cornucopia," says Keith. He features the line of New York's number 7 to Flushing, noting that it has seven trains, are eleven cars long, and that Flushing is where the New York Mets play.
About the Artist
Alabama-based artist Keith Thomson creates quick-witted, mixed-media artwork that blends realism and surrealism. His background as a political cartoonist in the 90’s is reflected in the sharp storytelling his artwork achieves. He combines stylized realism and everyday subject matter with surreal details and ironic twists. He begins his work as digital sketches using an animation software, then he transfers the sketch onto the canvas and begins applying oil paint. In addition to painting, he is a writer, of mostly spy novels and nonfiction articles. His writing prowess shines through in his witty descriptions of his pieces.

Artist Jennifer Ross presents a still life of a bird's nest on a light and airy background. The layered textures contrast the simplicity of the composition. She uses her eggshell collage technique on the eggs and sculpts the strands of the nest with an acrylic gel medium.
