About the Item
Monica DeSalvo’s “Dressed Up Properties” is a 22 x 30 inch triptych composed of three abstract acrylic monoprints with leaf forms. Red, yellow, royal blue, magenta, pink, sky blue, and hints of green and orange run from bright and crisp to muted and distressed. Handwritten math equations are exposed through the imagery on the left and right panels printed on vintage ruled notebook paper. The middle panel contains felt texture impressions and is on archival paper. The ruled paper and homework once belonged to DeSalvo’s late father, and the title is excerpted from one of his quotes. DeSalvo regularly experiments with Gelli printing onto his documents.
The work is on archival printmaking paper with deckled edges at the top and bottom. It is hinge-mounted with archival linen tape onto a sheet of 24.5 x 32.25 inch archival foamcore, providing a rigid surface with a border (approximately 1.25 inches) for framing. The signature is below the image.

Monica DeSalvo
DeSalvo is a Boston-based mixed-media artist blending drawing, printmaking, painting, and design. Her recent work explores and draws inspiration from her late father’s dementia and the journey she found herself on while caregiving. By using collage, she is able to perform “duets” with her father by incorporating his paper memorabilia. In August 2021 DeSalvo was one of eight artists selected from over 60 applicants featured in the Attleboro Arts Museum’s annual juried exhibition "8 Visions." DeSalvo is represented by Fountain Street Gallery in Boston, MA.
