About the Item
This is a stunning polychromed, engraved, and oxidized aluminum abstract still-life composition panel painting by Robert Pansart (1909-1973). The painted aluminum panel imitates the "fixé sous verre" technique that the artist used in the 1940s on eglomise mirrored glass. This composition is signed on the bottom right corner and also dated 1956.
Original oak wood frame.

About:
Robert Pansart (1909-1973) was a French glassmaker and decorator specializing in etched, oxidized, and églomisé glass techniques. He mainly worked from the post-war years to the 1960s with his team of more than ten employees.
Although he is mainly known for his mirrors adorned with figures and arabesque decorations, Pansart also produced a certain number of pieces of furniture in fantastic baroque shapes, reminiscent of the world of fairy tales, in a typical taste of the 1940s and 1950s. His mirrors often appear in the art and antique market. He is, along with Pierre Lardin and Max Ingrand, one of the most famous and talented glassmakers of the period. André Grozdanovitch was his main collaborator, draftsman, designer, and decorator. They cooperated during the last two decades of the workshop. His work in France and Morocco remains to be studied and discovered. In addition, the company worked with independent designers like Serge Roche, Lucie Dolt, and Marc du Plantier and made glass table tops for ironworkers Gilbert Poillerat and Raymond Subes.
