Sylvia Vander Sluis’s “One Step at a Time” is a visual metaphor for breaking free from sorrow. This 16 x 20 x 1.5 inch mixed media collage incorporates acrylic paint, paper, woodcut, canvas strips and netting on canvas. Primary colors dominate with the subtle texture of canvas strips. Sides are painted and the artist’s signature is on the front and back.
Sylvia Vander Sluis is a Boston-based, mixed–media artist. She synthesizes many different materials and techniques in collages of rich color and texture. Her work has been shown throughout the Northeast. Vander Sluis is represented by Fountain Street Gallery in Boston, MA.
