About the Item
This is a Autograph Letter Signed by Alberto Gerardi to the Countess Pecci-Blunt.
Rome, December 9th (1939-40). One page, single-sinded. In Italian. Excellent condition, including original envelope. Perfectly readable, thanks to an elegant calligraphy.
The Italian artist writes this letter to his mentor and patron of arts, the Countess Anna Laetitia Pecci-Blunt, to inform her he was sending her two artworks she was interested in (a drawing representing a study of hands and a little wax model called Santa Teresa del Bambino Gesù, from which he derived the statue for the same-named church in Anzio).
Alberto Gerardi (Rome, 1889-1965)
Multihedral artist, painter, sculptor, ceramist, chiseller, Alberto Gerardi is remembered still today for the precious jewels he beaten and chiseled.
Countess Anna Laetitia Pecci-Blunt (Rome, 1885 - Marlia, 1971).
The Italian noblewoman was an art collector, patron and nephew of Pope Leo XIII. Extremely volcanic, she was very active in the cultural field, opening numerous lounges, galleries and theaters. In 1919 she married Cecil Blumenthal, later changed to Blunt, a wealthy Jewish banker from New York, heir to an important collection of nineteenth-century French painting. His Parisian and Roman salons was frequented by artists and intellectuals of the caliber of Salvador Dalì, Paul Valery, Poulenc, Paul Claudel, and Aldo Palazzeschi!
