About the Item

Correspondence by Augusto Murri is a set that comprises three manuscript letters addressed to “Chiarissimo Collega”: - Bologna, 27 May 1917. 2 pages, 13 x 18 cm. Perfect conditions. - Milan, 1 June 1917. 1 page on headed paper of the Palace Hotel of Milan. 14 x 21 cm. Perfect conditions. - Bologna, 20 October 1918. 1 page, 13 x 18 cm. Perfect conditions. In these letters, he asks his colleague for advice to help “lenire i patimenti che attossicano l’esistenza dell’anima elettissima e annullano l’azione di un’intelligenza preziosa” (heal the pain that intoxicate the existence of the superior soul and nullify the action of the precious intelligence) of his friend Conti and to “apprezzare il valore efficace dei consigli” (appreciate the effective value of suggestions), concerning the intervention of Rossi. Augusto Murri, one of the greatest clinicians of his time and author of an array of scientific publications, was one of the first medics to say that "there is no patient that is the same as another". He revolutionized the figure of the doctor because he asserted that encyclopedias and school knowledge are not enough, but that experiences and analyses play essential roles. He was a promoter of pure clinic, focused on the direct research on the sick persons as individuals, on their symptoms and causes of the diseases. In 1914, he published Il medico pratico for Zanichelli.
