These are two Autograph Apology Letters Signed by Georges Goyan to the Countess Pecci-Blunt. Paris, July 5th, 1936. Written on behalf of G. Goyan, likely by his wife H. Goyan, One page, single-sided; Paris, June 17th, 1937. One page, single-sided. Signed G. Goyan. Excellent condition, including original envelope. Written in French. Perfectly readable. The Armenian art and theatre historian, George Goyan, writes these pleasant greeting and apology letters to the Countess and Patron of Arts, Anna Laetitia Pecci-Blunt to decline her official invitation. Honored to be part of her enlightened circle, Goyan thanks her and greets her affectionately with the ending promise to see the Countess again! George Goyan (born Gevorg OvsepovichTer Nikogosyan, Tiflis, November 10, 1901 -1949) was a Doctor of Theater Studies and Art History (1949), and a Meritorious Artist Armenian SSR (1961). In 1944 he took part in Yerevan State Institute of Theatre and Cinematography, then taught there until 1949. He is the author of several works concerning the history of theater, the most significant of which are those on the history of Russian theatre in the seventeenth century, such as "2000 years of Armenian Theatre "(1952). Countess Anna Laetitia Pecci-Blunt (Rome, 1885 - Marlia, 1971) Best-known as "Mimì" Pecci-Blunt , the Italian noblewoman was an art collector, patron and nephew of Pope Leo XIII. Extremely volcanic, she was very active in the cultural field, opening numerous lounges, galleries and theaters. In 1919 she married Cecil Blumenthal, later changed to Blunt, a wealthy Jewish banker from New York, heir to an important collection of nineteenth-century French painting. His Parisian and Roman salons was frequented by artists and intellectuals of the caliber of Salvador Dalì, Paul Valery, Poulenc, Paul Claudel, and Aldo Palazzeschi!
