About the Item
Elea is an original installation realized by the artist Giulio Paolini in 2009.
The artwork consists in a colour lithograph on cut cardboard (33 x 41 cm); a transparent plexiglas plate (diameter 47 cm) and a plaster cast (h. 14.5 cm) depicting the greek philosopher Parmenides.
Hand-signed by the artist on colophon and numbered (edition of 76/150).
Includes colophon and cases box.
The image of it here evoked, far from any territorial reference, alludes to the light-years crossed by Time’s figures: Parmenides’ face seems to find and recognize itself in its reflected image in negative placed among celestial bodies.

- Large Animal Wall Sculpture: 'Wormhole'By Gin StoneLocated in New York, NY'I am a multidisciplinary artist with a focus on ecofeminism using fiber and mixed media constructions. My materials include hand-dyed commercially fished line and ghost gear, recycled and antique textiles, fabric printed with cyanotype emulsions and found objects. I change the existing surface of recognizable animals by creating a veneer of unexpected color and imagery. This forces the viewer to consider the shape more carefully by visually exploring its new topography. The creation process can be likened to painting with fiber (that has been tinted with hand-mixed dyes) on a three-dimensional canvas. Intense work is spent creating the eyes and ears to convey the emotion of each animal. I look to the work of Joan Mitchell and The Quilters of Gee’s Bend as inspiration for pattern and color, as well as charts, iconography, and satellite imaging.' -Gin Stone...Category
