Into the Light: The Photography of Jérôme Brunet (Standard & Deluxe)

About the Item

Signed Standard Edition Book, and Signed Limited Edition Deluxe Edition with Book and Print of 150 "In this stunning collection, Into the Light: The Photography of Jérôme Brunet, renowned music photographer Jérôme Brunet reflects on twenty years of photographing some of the world’s biggest musicians. Brunet got his start in the music world early, playing cello at four years old and continuing on to the guitar in his teens. His early passion for music translated easily to another artistic pursuit—photography. At the Banlieues Bleues Festival in Paris in 1994, Brunet began a successful career as a music photographer, later shooting some of the most famous musicians of all time, including Carlos Santana, Tom Petty, Robert Cray, B.B. King, and Dave Grohl. Brunet’s breathtaking style of shooting “contre-jour” or “into the light,” in which the photographer shoots toward a light source, has earned him numerous accolades and awards, including a Worldwide Photography Gala Award in 2001, first place at the 2012 International Photo Awards, and the Graphis Photo Annual Silver Award in 2017. In Into the Light: The Photography of Jérôme Brunet, an intimate retrospective on the last twenty years, the photographer showcases his curated collection of visually arresting photography of the most important names in music."

  • Looking at Photographs: 100 Pictures from the Collection of The Museum of Modern
    Located in Toronto, ON
"Originally published in 1973, this marvelous collection of photographs with accompanying texts by the revered late Museum of Modern Art photography curator John Szarkowski has long been recognized as a classic. Reissued in 1999-with new digital duotones-this volume is now available to a new generation of readers. "This is a picture book, and its first purpose is to provide the material for simple delectation," says Szarkowski in his introduction to this first survey of The Museum of Modern Art's photography collection. A visually splendid album, the book is both a treasury of remarkable photographs and a lively introduction to the aesthetics and the historical development of photography. Since 1930, when the Museum accessioned its first photograph, it has assembled an extraordinary and wide-ranging collection of pictures for preservation, study and exhibition. Among the outstanding figures represented here are Hill and Adamson, Cameron, O'Sullivan, Atget, Stieglitz, Steichen, Strand, Weston, Kertész, Evans, Cartier-Bresson, Lange, Brassaï, Ansel Adams, Shomei Tomatsu...

  • Pair of 19th C Inuit Male Statues carved in Walrus Tusk
    Located in brussel, BE
This pair is a fine example of ivory carving done by Inuit natives; Native Americans who live within and just below the Arctic Circle. Each year they procured a substantial amount of ivory from their walrus kills. The raw ivory was usually thrown on top of their huts to weather and properly season. Proper seasoning caused the ivory to dry from the inside out and thus rarely cracks. Hand-made tools were improvised for carving the ivory and bow-string hand drills were also in use. Ivory carving has been practiced by the Inuit for over 2,000 years and traditionally only Inuit men were allowed to carve objects out of ivory, bone, and wood. Artists found their inspiration in daily life and the natural world around them. Ivory items made from walrus tusks...

After years of studying dance, interior architecture, food and wine, Tülin Bozüyük, who combines these disciplines with the Touline brand in her hand-shaped ceramics, likes to concentrate on the freedoms in forms as well as the freedoms in emotions. Inspired by the movements of the human body, the artist elegantly presents the appeal of balance and power. She especially draws attention to the strength of the plates used in the tables under the delicate image. ”pavlova" plates also take their name from Anna Pavlova...
