About the Item

Engraving on silver plate numbered 24/100 and signed Augusto Perez (Messina, 1929 - Naples, 2001) Augusto Perez made his debut in the 1951 Neapolitan collective of young artists, winning the approval of Vasco Pratolini, and three years later he presented "Blu di Prussia," a group of large plaster sculptures, at the Neapolitan gallery. In 1955 he had a solo exhibition in Rome and the following year at the XXVIII Venice Biennale. His works have been exhibited at the Gallery of Modern Art in Paris, the Rodin Museum, the Antwerp Biennale, and the Tunnard Gallery in London. The catalog of his solo exhibition at the XXXIII Venice Biennale was signed by Cesare Brandi. In 1974 the Academy of St. Luke awarded him the prize for sculpture, naming him a National Academician, and in 2000 he received the "Antonello da Messina" and "Casalbeltrame - The Golden Frog" awards
