About the artist
Alejandro Legorreta (Mexico, 1987)
I studied Hispanic Literature at Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Mexico (UNAM). My interest in the visual arts developed from photography to painting. I describe myself as a monothematic, sensual artist. My work is a syntactic exploration of the modern gaze, which, although constantly bombarded by advertisement, maintains its wild nature, practical in its sensory function. Rest your eyes or demand attention; sensuality or excitement; my paintings run along this axis, and for this I use my hands and a soft or bright palette of colors, and a mixture of textures.

I studied Hispanic Literature at Universidad Nacional Autónoma de Mexico (UNAM). My interest in the visual arts developed from photography to painting. I was awarded 1st place in the National Award Punto de Partida UNAM. I completed an artistic residence in Ensenada, Baja California in the workshop of the painter Hector Herrera. My work is a syntactic exploration of the modern gaze, which, although educated by the advertising bombardment, maintains its wild, primitive nature, practical in its sensory function. Rest your eyes or draw attention; sensuality or excitement; my paintings run along this axis from end to end. I use my hands and a soft palette of colors.

- Artificial Flowers, Contemporary Art, Abstract Painting, 21st CenturyBy Maite PeredaLocated in Mexico City, MXArtificial Flowers, 2022 Contemporary Art, Abstract Painting Acrylic on canvas 82x62cm Frame included Signed and dated on the back About the artist Maite was born in Mexico City, where she now lives and works. Her work is based on the exploration and understanding of the use of colour as a tool to create a stronger connection between the viewer and the work displayed. Having her interest in colour arise from the common ground that exists between her personal experiences with the use of colour within the Mexican culture and the effects of colour she perceives from her personal artistic practice, she tries to use her work as a way to get familiar with both the far-reaching capabilities of colour and its resourcefulness when transforming everyday scenarios into desirable realities. As her practice has been developing, she has continually incorporated and simplified the idea of architectural shapes. The opportunity for objects to be defined by the simple outline of the flat colours that fill them paired with angular geometric devices has become integral to her practice. She has become increasingly captivated by the intensified sensation of placelessness that floods the compositions and transforms an everyday scene into a puzzling sight that stops the image from being simply an admirable image into a visually engrossing experience.
