About the Item
Geometric abstract painting made in 2020 by Amanda Andersen, initialed on the back. This piece is from a body of work inspired by ordinary object arrangements such as table-top still lives. The objects were simplified drastically into outlines, while most compositions in the series have overlapping shapes which form a unifying connection–the shapes in this artwork are practicing social distancing.
This piece has a purple background with thin lined shape outlines in burnt orange, yellow, cloud blue and pink. This was all hand painted and none of the lines are perfectly straight, lending it character.
Acrylic and gouache paint on thick, acid free, archival paper. The paper has an unfinished sketch on the back.
Original will be shipped in a tube from Hamburg; the frame is not included in price. The artwork could be framed for an additional, cost.

Amanda Andersen
Based out of a poorly heated–yet cozy attic studio bordering the icy waters of Northern Europe, Amanda has been working for over 10 years as a professional artist; creating paintings as well as artist books and digital artworks. Working mostly in acrylic paint on canvas, she makes minimal compositions with sprinklings of high contrast patterns and color. Using minimalist strategies, she pedals between the abstract and figurative. Inspired by the rigid lines of Agnes Martin and organic forms of Eva Hesse, she also adores fantasy films, surrealism, brutalist architecture and a really smooth gradient. Amanda is also an illustrator and animator creating works under digital pseudonym We Throw Rocks, setting paintings in motion. Her work has shown internationally, including: the Kunstraum Kreuzberg in Berlin, Tiny Creatures in Los Angeles, the National Centre for Contemporary Arts State Museum in St Petersburg. Her most recent exhibition was completely virtual; Flora | Fauna hosted by Tez1and, presented by CleanNFTs and Teia.
Amanda received a BFA in Illustration from the Pacific Northwest College of Art in Portland, Oregon, and completed a MA at the Universität der Künste Berlin, Germany. Her work has been featured in Art Review, Art Kunstmagazin and is held in many private collections as well as the MOMA Art Library and MACBA Barcelona.
