Always linked to the sea – to whose shades that embrace vast ranges of blue, green and light blue has dedicated many works over the years, inspired by the Italian coasts, the Caribbean, Mauritius, until the Indian ones – from 2022 the artist is elaborating a cycle dedicated to climate change that will focus on rising sea level and the consequent new – alarming – setup between land, sea and sky.
The colors in this case are not limited to expressing the sentiment of the place but intend to dig deeper into the awareness of the beholder, inviting the observer to start a reflection on the role played by humanity in changing the climate. The place in other words, from physical and, albeit vaguely, identifiable space, becomes, especially in the paintings of recent years, more and more interior space.
Antonio Franchi, deepening his relationship with color, also as a result of specific studies, gradually slides from an aerial synthesis to an emotional synthesis. His roots that sink into the heart of Tuscany, the many trips around the world, the folklore of distant cultures, the colors of the sea and those of the sky coagulate in an intimate and inexhaustible chromatic diary, whose pages are constantly evolving, both stylistically and quantitatively. Vibrant and changing, his works are the depositaries of a state of mind, or rather, of a complex of moods, intrinsically inherent to the places, lived in first person by the artist, conveyed on the canvas by means of color and there synthesized.
The liveliness of color becomes an element of life.
