About the Item
Oil on Canvas, 30 x 30 inches (76.2 x 76.2 cm)
The inspiration for this painting is from the poem:
"Let Me Tell You About Winds"
Let me tell you about winds.
They can go anywhere.
They need no visa to enter
your hair or a country
drawn by a cartographer’s pen.
They can carry things.
They can carry a grain of sand
across a century,
or petals of a ripened rose
toward its dying.
They can spread the waves
into a tide from the ocean floor,
or spread your warmth in whispers
across my soul.
They can stir trees into ballet
or sweep your song
into the nations of my heart.
Let me tell you about winds.
They whistled rumours to eternity.
Time, sand, sky.
All that never ends.
They carried you to me
And gave me breath
to carry on.
~ © Arica Hilton
Multi-media artist, poet and writer, Arica Hilton was born on the Mediterranean. Whether it is visual art through paintings or the poetic expressions of language and music, every aspect of her life is geared towards one form of art melding into another. Hilton’s paintings and installations are intricately woven with her poetry and three-dimensional materials (such as recycled plastic from water bottles) which transports them to the present while capturing a timeless quality that is ubiquitous in her works.
