Artur Trojanowski
Absorption - Black, blue and white abstract painting

2015

About the Item

Biomorphic blue, white, and black abstract oil painting by Polish artist Artur Trojanowski. Acrylic on canvas. 24 x 18 inches. Offered unframed. Artur Trojanowski - born in 1968 in Lódz, Poland. He is an Alumnus of the Faculty of Visual Education at PWSSP (National Higher School of Visual Arts, later changed into Academy of Fine Arts) in Lódz, Poland, and received his diploma in 1993 at Prof. Tomasz Chojnacki's studio of Viscosity Printing and a diploma in painting at prof. Jacek Bigoszewski's studio focusing on painting, film, and installation art. Trojanowski has exhibited his work in Poland, Germany, Denmark, France, and Ukraine, including the Culture Centre ZAMEK, Poznan, Centre of Contemporary Art, Torun, and Bielska Gallery BWA. He has been awarded "Obraz Roku" (Painting of the Year) multiple times by Art & Business in Poland (2002, 2003 and 2005). The artist lives and works in Lanckorona, Poland. "I try to reduce compositions to the basic forms appearing as aura, energy field, or an after-image rather than a certain object or space. What we see is part of a perceptual game in which something is simultaneously revealed (in shapes and forms, sometimes resembling common objects) and hidden from sight in sequences of colorful spots and blurry contours. Areas seem to be in constant flow, stratifying and emerging as something beyond the two-dimensional space of the canvas, caught in a moment of transformation or the emanation itself. Solar and lunar forms, primal symbols of traditional cultures, sometimes emerge, indicating the atavisms, impressions, and mental states mutual to all, regardless of the experience, knowledge, or contexts that shape our sensitivity. It might seem that what we observe are only representations of a reality that cannot be fully expressed in the form of a painting. We can try to get close to it by individual contemplation or assume that what we see is only one of many possible approaches to a form whose main principles are fluctuation and flow of energy." • Domina - Pink, blue & yellow striped abstract painting
    By Mark Zimmermann
    Located in East Quogue, NY
Pink multicolor striped abstract painting by Mark Zimmermann - Acrylic and graphite on canvas in artist frame. Signed on back by the artist. Mark Zimmermann's work is based on the fusion of meditative fields, architectonic structures and an organic gestural line that is one-part intentional and one-part accidental. Zimmermann clearly demonstrates his deftness of hand though labored bands of color, building and editing one band upon other, until the editing process renders compositions that combine both hard-edge and action-painting abstraction. In discussing this work, the editor and writer, Larry Qualls noted,“...a majestic landscape narrative... they illuminate the nature of painting itself. In a sense what these paintings do is bring a synthesis of the conceptual and the realistic; it is as if there is the conflux of two grand traditions: the purely abstract and the purely objective.” Mark Zimmermann has exhibited his paintings across the United States and abroad. His work is held in private and public collections such as JW Marriott Essex House...

    By Paulo Canilhas

I am fascinated by the individual’s relationship within society. It is in this context that I exist. Along the beaten path, I allow myself to observe from a multitude of vantage points; towards the recent past or a future yet to occur. This is what inspires me- the creative moment yet to happen, laden with limitless possibilities. When I take a look at the past, I identify social and personal nuances and their direct influence on my work, and then with excitement look for what comes next. In this process I take distance from myself and view with a critical eye. Ever evolving, I search for more. I am neither a painter nor sculptor, much less a photographer or director, but I am a little bit of everything. I don’t feel bound to one specialized art form, and this allows me to navigate free and unencumbered by norms and expectations. My goal is not to achieve perfection in any one area, but rather to explore all disciplines- joyfully challenging myself, provoking and exploring beyond any pre-conceived limits. In my work I try to establish a connection between my reality and the reality of those who dedicate a few minutes of observation. I’m constantly searching for the vanishing point that gives diverse expression to my artistic production. This is the creative fuel that drives me ever forward. Paulo Canilhas...
