French artist, Born in 1965, Christophe Drodelot lives and works in Nantes (France). He is a graduate of the École Supérieure des Arts et Techniques de Paris.
The idea of the “Multiples” is a proliferation that plays on repetition and difference: areas duplicate one another, in permanent overlap. Reign of the in-between, of fuzzy structure and of becoming, this kaleidoscopic geography captures - from the random relationships between elements - interacting intensities: colors and lines seem to bend one and the same plane.
For the artist the practice and theory are inseparable and together constitute a powerful lever for creation. It is not a question pitting them against or to deny their difference, but to welcome them as distinct and complementary paths to the materiality of the work as much as its virtuality. Their tension founds the artistic and cultural richness.
All pictorial components become signs of strength that should be treated individually as well as jointly in order to give each component a singular expression and a common sense to the whole.
