About the Item
Denise Driscoll's "Circles 8" is a 36 x 48 inch acrylic painting on panel composed of dots that float above a pattern of interlocking circles arranged in a penciled grid. The under-layers of paint are applied in delicate fractals and washes of green-gold, khaki, red, and blue. The final layer of dots form spirals of black, white, blue and iridescent gold both obscuring and highlighting the colors below. This 36 x 48 painting is on two 36 x 24 inch birch panels which are bolted together. The 1.5 inch sides are painted in washes of pale green-gold and the painting is signed on the reverse.
Denise Driscoll is a contemporary painter exploring themes of interconnection, inner experience and invisible social structures. Her work has been shown and collected throughout New England. Driscoll is represented by Fountain Street Gallery in Boston, MA.

Denise Driscoll
Denise Driscoll is a contemporary painter exploring the notion that all living things —plants, animals, and humans—are connected in an intricate mesh of being, yet each exists at the center of their world. These simultaneous centers of lived experience swirl within and around us, piercing, enveloping, and permeating with or without our notice. Often, her paintings have no focal point. Instead, clusters of ovals and perforated shapes entwine and melt into each other within ambiguous boundaries. Highly saturated, complementary colors vibrate and seem to float just above the painted surface. Each canvas becomes an imaginary map of exchange, a playful, hopeful vision of momentary harmony.
