Hand-signed by the artist in verso.
This square format composition features two sections of blue divided by a dark horizon line. Though an abstract colorblock work, this piece is simultaneously reminiscent of a coastal seascape. Each shade of blue contains modulations and textures that give them depth and allow each to echo the light and dark of the other.
Artist Commentary:
This artwork is a divided color field painting of two shades of blue - a lighter shade and a darker one. It could represent the sky, or the water. There's lovely brush strokes and textures present in the painting to add more interest and depth.
About the Artist:
Denise is originally from Missouri but has lived in Denver, Colorado for over twenty five years. Growing up, she never gave a lot of thought to creating art until her senior year in high school. At that time, she watched some painting shows on television and decided she wanted to learn to paint. She bought some oil paints, and began to teach herself.. She also got a few private lessons with a local artist. About ten years ago, she transitioned to water-soluble oil paints to minimize exposure to any harmful chemicals. She draws her inspiration for painting from nature and likes to paint landscapes. Since she is surrounded by the beauty of the mountains of Colorado, there is a lot of inspiration to draw upon. She also recently has begun branching out to abstract painting with acrylic paints and experimenting with various filters in digital graphics applications.
