About the Item
Oil on canvas
Doïna Vieru is an Ecuadorian-Moldavian artist born in 1978 who lives & works in France, Paris. She always preferred pas/pas/passionately the image to the word and all this despite crises of Bartlébysme. Between "I would prefer not to", pencils, papers, pvc or metal and other sharp instruments, the game remains his eternal favorite. After studying at the Chisinau Art Academy in Moldavia and Ecole Nationale des Beaux-Arts de Paris, France, she left Europe for Ecuador where she developed her own artistic language between mountains and jungle. Her return to 2019 in Paris is marked by an event-hanging at the Nesle gallery where she presented drawings on the three levels of the gallery. Her work, which has been exhibited regularly in Ecuador, Mexico, France, Romania and Moldova, still deals with the inexpressible. It's a kind of hide-and-seek game, to say and shut up.
Her production is serial: she paints on herself, on her pregnancies, to the rhythm of Tchaikovsky's Opus 35 or in the melanomaniac search for black. In the last series of drawings it is a question of hiding and destroying poetry by freely playing on large photographic paper with layers-history - palimpsests - superimposed where unintelligible writing mixes with charcoal, ink, with white acrylics and black stone. It is the rewriting of the disaster, a direct reference to the work of Maurice Blanchot: "When all is said, what remains to be said is the disaster, ruin of speech, failure in writing, rumor that murmurs: this which remains without remainder."

Laura Newman's paintings combine geometric delineations of space, ephemeral color fields, dynamic lines and organic forms, resulting in atmospheric images evocative of representational landscapes, but always opening up to something more, something beyond. In Beach House, the viewer is confronted with dry-brushed structure frames containing chunks of color, suggesting landscape...Category

- Volley (Abstract Painting)By Anya SpielmanLocated in London, GBVolley (Abstract Painting) Oil on canvas - Unframed Spielman uses oil paint on canvas, paper and panel in various sizes; she works on up to forty paintings at a time, moving between them as each begins to form, then isolating a work to bring to completion. Her saturated surfaces are luminous, with alternate glossy and matte layers, but also bear rough nail marks that scar and deconstruct the work. These etched lines and marks relate to an image and idea, and are often the underlying structure, the submerged language of a work. Her use of reds and pinks link to flesh and blood...Category
