Living in the Fraser Valley, artist Jenn Williamson looks forward to the wondrous sight this painting evokes memories of. She reimagines the spectacular scenery in a mix of dreamy pastels and tonal hues. The outlook from the bridge brings a sense of calm back into the viewer's spirit. "My thoughts when painting this were mostly surrounding the gratitude I have for my faith, which has carried me through many challenges."
About the Artist
Jenn Williamson expertly evokes the scenery of British Columbia in her soft abstract landscapes. She utilizes defining horizontal and vertical strokes, coupled with a skillful handling of color, to create significant depth in each piece. Her paintings, though abstracted, clearly convey the atmospheric attributes of the scene–rain, wind, clouds, fog. Part of artist Rachel Srinivasan's signature cubist coffee series. For these pieces, she studies her extensive collection of cafetieres that she keeps in her studio. The works are both about celebrating her love of coffee, and depicting light, pattern, and repetition as though it were set to music.About the Artist
For Rachel Srinivasan, an idea is worth putting on a canvas only if it still feels exciting after a few days. Rachel enjoys mulling the idea over in her mind for some time before creating an artwork. She hopes viewers will engage with her work and wonder about the subject matter, shapes and colors. "My current work is all about creating a connection between the person on the canvas with the viewer," she explains. She prefers large paintings and sometimes even makes her own canvases.
