They are elusive layers that reveal several techniques and mediums (acrylic, ink, graphite, spray paint and oil paint). They are subtle imprints and reflections of the many lives I’ve lived around the globe, while they evoke the sky and misty fog of coastal California or the tropical lush nature of Bali. I am exploring the tangible, metamorphosis and decay of organic forms and the reality of not being able to stop time or inevitable change. This series of new paintings reveal the veil between illusion and reality. Ephemeral, organic, phantasmagorical shapes are suspended in movement and fluidity as if in an inescapable thick fog transitioning through a fleeting season. It invites the viewer to question impermanence in nature. Ultra-sensitive light filters through these layers as a symbol of faith and humble acceptance in a dark and disconnected world in an almost meditative state. There is subtlety and a vitality of light within the softness of the patina on paper that carries throughout the entire series.
