About the Item
"Architectural Fantasies" is a 44" x 34" oil on canvas abstract painting of geometric shapes and forms, giving the illusion of a three dimensional, architectural structure. The painting is signed and dated lower right Amarotico 81". Framed in black contemporary wood frame, image available upon request.
Born in New York City in 1931, Joseph Amarotico painted in oil and acrylic on canvas and board, and gouache on paper, using a surrealistic style to build architectural fantasies and "dream castles" from basic everyday shapes. The overall effect he achieved is similar to the play of light and color found in stained glass windows.
His work as a painter was overshadowed by his reputation as a conservator, restoring paintings for the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts. Specializing in 19th Century American paintings (a very different style from his own work), he refurbished paintings, found dates and names for paintings of unknown origin, and appraised paintings for their quality.

- Landscapes of the Soul and of the Mind XVII , Abstract Expressionist LandscapeLocated in Doylestown, PA"Landscapes of the Soul and of the Mind XVII " is a 44 x 56 inches, original, abstract landscape by American master colorist painter Al Lachman. The artwork is a gallery wrapped canvas, signed "Lachman" in the lower right. It is part of the artist's series "Landscapes of the Soul and of the Mind". The artist puts his thumb upon the pulse of life and records it. In that mystical beat lies the unknown, and he would but make it known. Being both, innovator and spectator, he exists as an intrinsic part of that rhythm. Each painting begins with a premise, and I rarely use the same one twice. It is based on what I see and what I am feeling at that moment. I do not think that painting is about technique. It is about a particular perception of the world around us. The premise creates the periphery of my intent. It is a limitation that gives birth to the creative forces within. - Al Lachman Born in 1936 in the Bronx, NY, Alan Lachman...Category
