A Moment in Time - Abstract Oil on Paper
Abstract oil painting on paper by Ken Wright (American, 1945-). Multiple colors are presented on paper with black and brown squares as the primary focal point. Green, red and yellow lines surround the figures, with black, yellow and white consuming the corners.
Signed "Ken Wright" lower left.
Presented in a tan mat with a distressed wooden blue frame.

Ken Wright was born in Richmond, Virginia in 1945 where he attended and graduated from Norfolk State University with a BFA in graphics and fine arts. Ken is an abstract painter using acrylics on canvas or museum board. He is a former arts commissioner for the Commonwealth of Virginia, and has served on many arts boards. He has won over 300 awards and honors for his work. Kens art is in many collections all over the United States and abroad. Among the collectors of his work are President George W. Bush, who hung Wrights art in the White House; and most recently President Barack Obama, who also hung Wrights work in the White House. Other collectors to name a few are former Ambassador to Liberia West Africa, Bismark Myrick; movie actress Eartha Kitt, and actress Tatiana Ali. His work has been exhibited in the office of U.S. Senator Mark Warner on Capital Hill, Washington, D.C. Ken Wright notes "I like for the viewer of my work to not take a glance, but, to linger a while, and let the piece speak to you".

Frame size: 23.5"H x 30"W Image size: 14.5"H x 22.5"W Russell Davis Green (American, 1910-1986) painter, printmaker and teacher, was born in Traer, Iowa on December 29, 1910. He studied art at Iowa State College and the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Green worked in the Illinois and New York Works Progress Administration-Federal Art Projects in the 1930s and two of his woodcuts are listed in the General Services Administration’s book WPA Artwork in Non-Federal Repositories. Green was also a painter and lithographer, and he was included in the Exhibition by Artists of Chicago and Vicinity at the Art Institute of Chicago in 1934. His work was also included in exhibitions at the Philadelphia Art Alliance; Museum of Modern Art and the Grand Central Galleries in New York; and the Iowa Federation of Women's Clubs, 1935. Green began his long teaching career at Stephens College in Columbia, Missouri in 1940 and eventually headed the art department. He is represented in the collections of the Baltimore Museum of Art; Art Institute of Chicago; Metropolitan Museum of Art; Newark Museum; and the St. Louis Art Museum. [After graduating from the Art Institute of Chicago in 1933, he returned to Iowa to begin teaching. In 1935, approximately the time he completed Thanksgiving, he served as a private art teacher in Sioux City. He also had a one-person exhibition of his work at the Sioux City School of Music, Dramatic Art and Dancing, which was located in the Commerce Building.
