About the Item
Important work from Kim Frohsin's Cautionary Tales series of 2015, that considers the price of progress in our rapidly changing world. Here in this compelling diptych "Mesh No 1 & 2' we see a vanishing urban landscape through orange construction mesh. There are dots if blue representing fragments of sky and embedded messages on caution. Created in Frohsin's wholly unique method of layered painting with mainly acrylic and ink, gouache, pencils and glazes. Framed individually in museum quality pale hardwood floater framed. Signed, titled and dates Verso. The diptych can hang on a wall, or sit of a table or shelf. Compelling and provocative small works that are also the smallest of Frohsin's 'Mesh' works from the CT series that was featured at Art Silicon Valley's International Art Fair.
Each painting is 14 x 14 inches. The diptych consists of two paintings. 'Mesh No 1 and Mesh No 2'
Kim Frohsin, who is often associated with the Bay Area Figurative movement, began exhibiting in the San Francisco Bay Area in the early 1990s, and in 1993 was included with Nathan Olivera, Manuel Neri and Stephen De Staebler in an exhibit of "Four Figures from the Bay." With Wayne Thiebaud as the juror, she won the California Society of Printmakers' Award in 1996, and the following year exhibited at the de Young Museum in San Francisco in "Bay Area Art: The Morgan Flagg Collection." Frohsin is a multidisciplinary visual artist, who is at home with painting, drawing, monoprintIng, and mixed media. Her subjects include the female figure as well as mundane ''objects" and series — including ‘Cautionary Tales’ and ‘Portraits of Numbers’— that attract her attention, and which are most often autobiographical in nature.

- Nice Try HarveyBy Jenny DayLocated in New Orleans, LA"Lone Star, True But Whatever There was I time when I ached for the world. Before cell phones, before social media, I felt the urgency of environmental damage, of social injustice. Nothing seems to have gotten better. I'm not numb to it, but in some way I've become flip, a resigned humor like a layer of scar tissue between my concerns and the abrasion all around. Still, I was surprised how playful these paintings became. Disasters intertwine: Urns, much like the one that held my twin sister's ashes, a familial disaster, come to the forefront, variations of childhood memory. Images from photos I took in Port Aransas...Category
