Marc Foster Grant (American, b. 1947) is an artist from San Diego, CA who began showing his art at 13 years old. This led to becoming San Diego Museum’s Art Guild’s youngest member. He attended San Francisco State University in 1965 to study printmaking under John Ihle and Dennis Beal. Throughout college, Marc taught silk screening classes in his Potero Hill painting studio and worked at Museum West—an arm of New York Museum of Contemporary Crafts. Later he became the Display Director at Design Research International. He later attended the Brighton School of Art and Design in England for graduate work in printmaking. In 1973 Marc joined his wife Jeanne’s fledging dress business. The couple moved the enterprise from England, back to San Francisco where they opened their first shop, “Jeanne-Marc”, in North Beach. Under the same label they sold their small sportswear collection to high-end specialty stores including I. Magnin, Saks Fifth Avenue, Neiman Marcus and Bergdorf Goodman as well as to stores in Europe and Japan. In 1991 both Marc and Jeanne were elected to the CFDA (Council of Fashion Designers of America) Exhibitions and Awards: 1969, First Prize - the James D. Phelan Award for Graphics 1970, First Prize - New Paltz Intercollegiate Print Exhibition “Haircut? Yes, Please” - Victoria and Albert Museum (permanent collection) 1992 - Absolute Vodka’s Golden Shears Award for Fashion Design

Signed "Russell Green" in the lower left corner. Presented in a wood frame with a double mat. Frame size: 23.5"H x 30"W Image size: 14.5"H x 22.5"W Russell Davis Green (American, 1910-1986) painter, printmaker and teacher, was born in Traer, Iowa on December 29, 1910. He studied art at Iowa State College and the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Green worked in the Illinois and New York Works Progress Administration-Federal Art Projects in the 1930s and two of his woodcuts are listed in the General Services Administration’s book WPA Artwork in Non-Federal Repositories. Green was also a painter and lithographer, and he was included in the Exhibition by Artists of Chicago and Vicinity at the Art Institute of Chicago in 1934. His work was also included in exhibitions at the Philadelphia Art Alliance; Museum of Modern Art and the Grand Central Galleries in New York; and the Iowa Federation of Women's Clubs, 1935. Green began his long teaching career at Stephens College in Columbia, Missouri in 1940 and eventually headed the art department. He is represented in the collections of the Baltimore Museum of Art; Art Institute of Chicago; Metropolitan Museum of Art; Newark Museum; and the St. Louis Art Museum. [After graduating from the Art Institute of Chicago in 1933, he returned to Iowa to begin teaching. In 1935, approximately the time he completed Thanksgiving, he served as a private art teacher in Sioux City. He also had a one-person exhibition of his work at the Sioux City School of Music, Dramatic Art and Dancing, which was located in the Commerce Building. The exhibition included 81 oil paintings, watercolors and prints.] Russell Green 1910 - 1986 A FINE SENSE OF BALANCE — Russell Green started attending college in small town Iowa during an era of unparalleled prosperity in the United States. Yet by the time Green graduated five years later from the Art Institute of Chicago, the Depression had brought the country to its knees economically. In those few years, ending with his Bachelor of Arts, Green had also undergone a personal transformation from a farm boy...
