"Acting as a common denominator in these paintings is the balance of simple geometric shapes, but that is not why we can call Marco Casentini a minimalist." His geometries find their origin in an academic study of De Stijl. Casentini's are deeply urban abstractions: "My works originate from urban spaces, geometries, shapes and their architecture. When you live in a big city you relate to its geometries."

Marco Casentini
Born in La Spezia, Italy in 1961, Casentini studied painting at the Accademia di Belle Arti in Carrara, Italy. His work has been featured in over 150 solo and group exhibitions throughout the United States, Italy, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, the Netherlands, and Australia. Most recently his work was presented in Drive In, a solo exhibition at the Museum of Art and History, Lancaster, CA, which later travelled to Bocconi Art Gallery, Milan Italy; Reggia di Caserta, Caserta CE, Italy; and Sheikh Abdullah Al Salem Cultural Center, Kuwait City, Kuwait. This is his eighth solo exhibition with Brian Gross Fine Art, having first exhibited in 1999 as an emerging talent. He currently lives and works in Milan, Italy and Hermosa Beach, California.
