The painting is signed and dated on the front "M. Nuti 68" and titled and signed again on the back of the canvas "Vicino alla città M. Nuti" meaning "Close to the city"
Mario Nuti is an artist born in Florence who, starting from New Cubism artistic movement, became one of the founder of the "Classic Abstract art" by signing the Manifesto in the 1950. He continued his artistic development in the Abstract direction, starting from a rigid geometry ending to a more complex structural and chromatic weave. The pictorial material became more three dimensional and pasty (as we can see also in the surface of this painting), giving substance to the spaces and the architectures, that the painter portrays from what he saw around him.
