Mark Acetelli’s oil and mixed media paintings awaken the viewer’s sense of exploration and adventure; they demand a new discovery. Mark’s mother herself was a painter and some of his earliest memories were the smell of turpentine and oil paints. Growing up surrounded by his mother's work, she inspired and encouraged him to become an artist. Acetelli’s paintings are inspired by the intensely personal introspective journey of life, from the ever-changing complexities of love, loss, birth, and death. The context of his work he describes as, “Absence and Presence” pertaining to how someone or something can be physically gone, but the essence still remains. Capturing the physical mixed with spirituality on canvas. His application of paint is an extension of that thought process. He works by continuously building up and tearing down, layer upon layer, adding and subtracting. A visceral dance between the conscious and the unconscious until the emotion is expressed. Acetelli’s paintings may go through multiple incarnations with the past lying just beneath the surface, adding to its overall dimension and depth. In his work, Acetelli seeks to evoke a feeling rather than depict a defined image. He uses primarily oils and encaustics to create thickly layered canvases with emotive bursts of color. Creating a world where imagination and reality come together. Cuban-American artist Frankie Alfonso creates interwoven paintings using lively colors and spontaneous, well balanced compositions. His work is best described as a style of automatic writing were he manipulates simple lines to make complex arrangements of balance and harmony. His style is a mix of cubism, cartoon animation, surrealism, graffiti and abstract expressionism. This original one-of-a-kind artwork is 48 inch tall by 36 inch wide. He first found inspiration in comic books and enjoyed drawing his favorite super heroes from an unconventional perspective. As a teenager he started to experiment with oils, acrylics and took his passion for art to the canvas. Even after painting for over 20 years, he still pushes the boundaries while experimenting with mixed medias, including oil, acrylic, gouache, and spray paint. Alfonso attended art school in Tampa, Florida and travelled Europe for several years in search of inspiration and his own unique voice in art. Alfonso used his in depth studies of European Masters and was inspired by Picasso, Braque, Klee, Dali, Basquiat, De Kooning and Matisse. The joyful expressions of his artworks resonate with positive light and inspire creative thinking and innovation.
