About the Item
Sally is a self taught artist who has pursued art for as long as she can remember. She grew up in Shelbyville, KY, and now calls Birmingham, AL home.
Her work as an artist began on impulse in her spare time from a 30 year career as a nurse. Sally unexpectedly found herself without work, so she started a design business which naturally led to painting.
In her own words, “The path I now take is slow and deliberate. Many layers of mixed media are applied to paper, canvas, or raw Belgian linen until the final piece is refined and unexpected, hopefully causing the viewer to pause, take a breath, and be present.”
Levine's paintings are gaining national recognition in private collections, painting competitions and as The 2017 Featured Artist of Huntsville Museum of Art's Annual GALA. She continues to evolve and has studied painting with renowned artists:
Terry Miura, CW Mundy, Lori Putnam, and Maggie Siner whom are among the most influential in her work.
