Graffiti XXIII is an original abstract painting by Sarah Foat. The painting is a 10x10cm square featuring a variety of mark-making techniques in contrasting colours inspired by graffiti. The layering of acrylic shapes and forms reveal intricate levels of detail. Fascinated by the interaction of paint layers over time, Sarah uses colourful gestures to contemplate the nature of street art around us.
Sarah Foat graduated in 1998 from Bath Spa University College with a degree in Fine Art. I then ran my own art gallery for 10 years exhibiting and selling contemporary art and craft alongside my own work. Since returning to my artwork after becoming a mother, I am now pursuing my passion for abstract painting. My recent paintings are inspired by a piece of graffiti that I regularly walk past on the school-run - in particular the layers of previous graffiti tags, vivid colours and beautiful close up compositions. I use acrylics to explore textures and colours reminiscent of graffiti, with a continual process of applying and removing paint in order to reveal glimpses of previous layers. I enjoy experimenting with mark-making and investigating contrasts, not only with colour but also texture, tone, line and space. I hope in some way to capture my vision of the beautiful essence of graffiti in my paintings.

- Sandbank, abstract art, landscape art, seascape art, original paintingBy Jon RowlandLocated in Deddington, GBJon Rowland: 'As the tide recedes sometimes it leaves small sand spits. The Scottish coast offers opportunities to make a quick sketch that can be worked on in the studio.' Discover new paintings by Jon Rowland and his abstract expressionism with Wychwood Art. Each work has been carefully selected by Deborah Allan our Chief Art Curator. Wychwood Art have exhibited Jon Rowland in London during a pop-up exhibition of theirs at the Darren Baker Gallery. His paintings have been displayed at the Royal Academy and at the Berthold and Darren Baker Gallery in London. He has also exhibited in group exhibitions at Linacre and Green Colleges, at Swann Gallery in Woodstock, and with Wychwood Art at Battersea Art Fair. He was one of six contemporary artists who took part in an exhibition of views of Blenheim Palace, juxtaposing the original visions with today's, as part of the celebration of the 300th anniversary of Capability Brown's birth. Solo exhibitions have been at the Said Business School, Wolfson College in Central Oxford, and most recently at the Sewell Centre Art Gallery and Cornerstone Art Centre in Oxfordshire, and the Boiler Room Gallery in Central Oxford. Through Wychwood Art, he has carried out several large scale commissions for private clients. Jon comments: Painting is a journey. One starts at one place - the blank canvas, and hopefully ends at a resolution. Sometimes one gets lost. My aim in this journey is to create original, contemporary art that is grounded in place. Chance and opportunity are the travelling companions; but the art is to know when the journey is complete. I tend to work in series, with references to locations that are abstracted, reflecting on themes of colour, movement and space. In some themes I use concepts...Category

- Windswept Moorland, Abstract Landscape Painting, Expressionist Art, Layered ArtLocated in Deddington, GBThe textural, earthy tones of the moor are complimented by the green/greys and dusky pinks of the sky.
