Oil on canvas laid on board measures 14 3/4 x 9 7/8; frame dimensions measure 22 3/8 x 17 x 3 1/4. Artist's signature, lower left.
A fragment of a gallery brochure entitled, Peintures de Botkin is included with the painting. A partial title for the painting is listed under Number 3 in the exhibition. On the verso of the brochure is a label from Frank Rehn Gallery, 655 Madison Avenue at 60th St. New York, NY.
A 1972 review from the New York Times of a Botkin exhibition at the Rehn reads: Straight out of the late 1950's and making no bones about it, these new abstract collages (with painting) are remarkably satisfying; Mr. Botkin has been one of the more restrained artists in a fraternity that became discredited because too many of its members were given to excess. His judicious compositions, far from looking stale, prove the continuing vitality of a manner that was much abused when it was all the rage.
