"Where do I go from here" Large oil and acrylic on canvas with metal grid 66x80"

2020

About the Item

This large original painting by Ceravolo measures 66x80". it is painted with oil and acrylic on canvas with spray painted lettering and a rusted metal grid installed approx 1 inch in front of the canvas. The painting features Ceravolo's Gopher muse "G" in the middle of a maze like creation. In this painting titled "Where do I go from here" G is looking up standing on a path of Spontaneous brush strokes that form a maze as if to say I have so many choices in life, let me see which path I want to take. The metal grid also symbolically adds an element that could hold G back from his journey. The title of the work is shown in painted stencil letters along the top area of the canvas. Ceravolo said he wanted the title visible when the viewer walks up to the canvas so that they immediately see that the canvas shows that there are many paths in life that are available to you, and that you just have to choose which is the correct one for you. The maze like brush strokes, that G is standing on, give the illusion that they are raised above the abstract background. The canvas is painted with acrylic, oil, metallic paint, oil stick, spray paint and areas with an iridescent quality in addition to the rust metal grid that make this one of Ceravolo's most interesting and thought provoking works.. I have included many close up detail images so that you can see the abstract background. Some images show the painting with the metal grid removed. Along with images of Ceravolo with some of his celebrity collectors. Ceravolo's Large scale paintings have received international acclaim for more four decades. His art came to popular attention when he was commissioned to create six large scale paintings for the lobby of The Palladium Theatre in New York City of Frank Zappa, Linda Ronstadt, Jackson Browne, Neil Young and Hall and Oates. In addition to those, his paintings are in many influential corporate and private collections worldwide, including: SIR ELTON JOHN, ROD STEWART, HUGH M. HEFNER, DAVID BRENNER, MONIQUE VAN VOOREN, WARNER BROS., RCA RECORDS AND SCHENLEY INDUSTRIES to name a few. Sometimes the abstract work is in the form of Ceravolo's trademark "illusion" which appears to be "floating" in front of the canvas, other times the abstract work is a spontaneous application of paint which adds color and texture and is in perfect compliment to the gray realistic image.
