- Last ShotLocated in Ibadan, OyoAt the heart of "Last Shot" is a young woman, the central character of this evocative piece. She is fully absorbed in the game of snooker, her posture and facial expression revealing intense concentration and determination. The artist has deliberately obscured all the colored snooker balls, leaving only the white ball visible. This compositional choice draws the viewer's attention to the player's anticipation of her "last shot." The backdrop of "Last Shot" is a dimly lit snooker hall, creating an atmosphere of suspense and intrigue. The faint glow of overhead lights accentuates the drama of the moment, casting shadows that add depth and complexity to the scene. The absence of details surrounding the white ball and the player's narrowed focus on it contributes to the overall feeling of precision and concentration. "Last Shot" is a visual metaphor for life's critical moments—those decisive occasions when everything hinges on a single move. By obscuring the colored balls and leaving only the white ball visible, the artwork symbolizes the importance of making the right choices, even when faced with uncertainty and obscurity. The young woman's unwavering focus on her last shot encourages viewers to consider their own pivotal moments in life. It prompts reflection on the significance of each action and the consequences that follow, reminding us that sometimes, a single move can determine the course of our journey. - Leap, Watercolour on Paper, Yellow , Brown White Color "In Stock"By Prashant SalviLocated in Kolkata, West BengalPrashant Salvi Leap, Watercolour, Acrylic, Charcoal on Paper 22 x 30 inches, 2016 (shipped in a roll form) "I have built my career on surrealist,anatomical/botanical fantasies; beautifully rendered yet sometimes haunting and gruesome, void of irony and done with absolute sincerity. My work builds meaning primarily by exploring the unbridgeable difference between animals and people. A proactive imagery of humans and animals suggests an investigation of linguistics, the natural sciences and human sociology all in respect to the parallel universe of other species alongside us. I use a seemingly detached abstraction as a counter-point, tomy- stylised fabrications of sexual desire"- Prashant Salvi An undercurrent of eroticism, viewed with a steady detachment often can be part of Salvi's works, morphing human and animal forms and throwing psychological riddles challenging the viewer to decide where life begins or ends. Salvi's watercolours with its technical virtuosity turn images from nature to a surrealistic dance of survival. The works are challenging, complex and magically real and acknowledge life’s gentleness and aggressiveness in unison. While nature’s logic could be used to argue the very existence of an omnipotent creator, Salvi, paradoxically suggests ambiguity to life's bigger and deeper questions; answers of which he feels don't come in neat packages. - Wings 2021, Acrylic, Charcoal, Canvas by Modern Artist Shuvaprasanna "In Stock"By Shuvaprasanna BhattacharyaLocated in Kolkata, West BengalShuvaprasanna Bhattacharya - Wings 2021 - 60 x 30 inches (unframed size) Acrylic and Charcoal on Canvas , 2021 One of the most popular series of the Master Artist, The Golden Flute is the artists more romantic renedition of Art. The iconic figures of Krishna, Radha, and Ganesha that found lyrical expression in the Icons series are modern representations and sophisticated idealizations of the same images in the popular media. Krishna is a cosmic musician, and the tune he creates by playing his transcendental flute is embodied with cosmic energy. When Krishna is depicted as being between the age of 5 and 8, it is always with his flute. Therefore, during this period, he is aptly called Murlidhara (murali means “flute,” and dhara means “hold”), signifying the one who holds the flute. He is never without it, whether he is with his mother, on the grazing grounds with his herd of cows, among his cowherd companions or roaming around on the Jamuna banks. Gopis lose their selves in this tune. For them, music becomes the voice of love, which is too passionate and secretive. Style : The city of Kolkata has always figured prominently in his work. His themes come from his personal interactions with its urban milieu - its sickness and sordidness, its violence and vulnerability and all that compounds its existential agony. Shuvaprasanna has depicted varying moods of the city and its people, its places, and all its facets that make the city distinctive. He doesn't merely portray reality as 'matter of fact' and his presentation of reality often has dream-like elements in it. In terms of technique, Shuvaprasanna boasts a precise, finely executed style that yields an unmistakable visual intensity. He works comfortably in an assortment of media, including oil on canvas, charcoal, and mixed media. About the Artist and his work : Born : In Calcutta, 1947. Education : Graduated from Indian College of Art (R.B. University, Calcutta) in 1969. Exhibitions : Shuvaprasanna has had several gallery and museum exhibitions, including at the Tao Art Gallery and at the Chawla Art Gallery, Square One Mall. Several works by the artist have been sold at auction, including 'ABODE' sold at Waddington's 'Fine Prints & Photography Auction' in 2014. There have been many articles about Shuvaprasanna, including 'An exclusive edifice' written by Kunal Ray for The Hindu in 2014.
