I Donut Wanna Grow Up, Painting, Acrylic on Canvas

2020

About the Item

Mr. Waits said it best and Ramones paid blitzkrieg homage when they belted: ????????? "I'm gonna put a hole in my TV set I donut wanna grow up Open up the medicine chest And I donut wanna grow up" ????????? This painting is my own humorous homage to this badass song. I always took the song as a reference to staying young at heart, later realizing it's deeper meaning of non-conformity. ????????? The youngest of 3, I am 5 years younger than my brother and 8 years younger than my sister. The differences in age certainly waned as we all got older, but at 10 years old, I remember crying to my mom about how much I wanted to be a "grown up". I tried so hard to live vicariously through my brother and sister. ????????? As I got older and now a father myself, I find myself looking back on those days through my own kid and finding my stay-young attitude. So stay young at heart and eat a donut today. :: Painting :: Gothic-Medieval :: This piece comes with an official certificate of authenticity signed by the artist :: Ready to Hang: Yes :: Signed: Yes :: Signature Location: front and back :: Canvas :: Landscape :: Original :: Framed: No

"The North American River Otter is equally at home in the water and on land. It makes its home in a burrow near the water's edge. Their strong tail and elongated body make it a terrific swimmer. On land they prefer life on the shores of lakes, marshes and streams. This pair had been playing in the water and pulled out onto the river bank to dry off...

San Rafael Reef #2, acrylic on panel, 11 x 37 1/2 inches, $2,200 “It is my feeling that the desert country of the American West is too large, too wild, too gorgeous to be encompassed by traditional landscape painting. Our inherited aesthetic defines beauty in landscape as green and arable land or grand, breathtaking places. I feel the need to expand that definition. I want to portray the desert as it is right now; to dispense with the limitations of what has come before, to quietly point out the beauty of places that are harsh and forbidding to habitation but express an aesthetic of the wild. I strive to go beyond the sentimentality that often defines our images of the West. The scale of many of my pieces (an extreme horizontal) is a compositional strategy to capture the vastness of these places.” – M. Knudsen Mark Knudsen...
