About the Item
"Face to Face" by Aba Linus is a thought-provoking and enigmatic artwork that presents a powerful visual representation of human connection and communication. In this piece, two young men are depicted facing each other, both blindfolded with a white cloth. The title, "Face to Face," hints at the central theme of the artwork, which explores the nuances of human interaction and the barriers that can obstruct our ability to truly understand one another.
The blindfolds symbolize the limitations and preconceived notions that can hinder effective communication. By obscuring their vision, the subjects are forced to rely on other senses and non-verbal cues to connect. This piece encourages viewers to reflect on the ways in which we perceive and relate to one another, highlighting the importance of empathy, active listening, and the willingness to step out of our comfort zones to truly engage in meaningful dialogue.
The use of a white cloth as the blindfold carries a sense of purity and neutrality, underlining the idea that meaningful connections between individuals should transcend biases and judgments. "Face to Face" challenges us to question our assumptions and biases and prompts us to approach interpersonal relationships with an open heart and mind.
Aba Linus' "Face to Face" is a compelling work that invites viewers to contemplate the complexity of human interaction and the transformative power of genuine communication. It serves as a reminder that understanding one another often requires a willingness to remove the blindfolds we carry and truly engage in a face-to-face, open-hearted exchange.

- Await For DesireLocated in Ibadan, OyoAt the center of "Await For Desire" stands a young woman, her expression laden with introspection. Her captivating gaze invites viewers to explore the depths of their own desires and longings. Mayowa's depiction of the woman symbolizes the human capacity for introspection and the journey of self-discovery. Her youth suggests a sense of innocence as if she is at the precipice of embarking on a profound exploration of her desires, dreams, and aspirations. The rose flower held gently in the young woman's hand adds a layer of intrigue to the artwork. Roses have long been associated with love, desire, and beauty. In this context, the rose becomes a metaphor for the desires that lie within each of us, waiting to be explored and embraced. The delicacy with which the young woman holds the rose signifies the fragility and vulnerability of these desires. The petals, beautifully rendered by Mayowa, exude a sense of purity and grace, mirroring the young woman's own essence. The title of the artwork, "Await For Desire," suggests a period of patient waiting and introspection. Mayowa invites viewers to contemplate the nature of desire and the role it plays in shaping our lives. The young woman's expression implies a moment of deep reflection as if she is on the cusp of a significant realization or decision. This evokes a sense of intrigue, urging viewers to reflect on their own desires, their significance, and the choices that emerge from such introspection. Akingbade Mayowa...Category
