About the Item

Piazza del Popolo is an original modern artwork realized by the Italian artist Alessandro Battaglia (1870-1940) in the first years of the XX century. Original oil on canvased cardboard. Signed "Battaglia" on the lower left. An early 20th gilded wooden frame is included (cm 56 x 76). Good conditions except for some minor stains on the center. Refined view on Piazza del Popolo in Rome; the painting is Realistic and, on the foreground, there is the famous Obelisk of Pope Sistus V and the fountain with the Neoclassical lions. On the foreground there are the domes of the two twin Churches. The brushstrokes define the composition and the volumes of the buildings are illuminated by a warm sunny light. This object is shipped from Italy.
