French North African early 20th-century Impressionist, Fishermen coming ashore with their daily catch.
André Humbert was born in Paris on the 27th of November. He was a student of the famous French painter Léon Bonnat and throughout his carrier he exhibited at the Salon Des Artistes Francais, winning a third-class medal in 1901 and a second-class medal in 1904.
This I'm sure is the artist's masterpiece and shows a level of painting that far exceeds anything else the painter had painted before or after.
This painting came from a private collection in the Uk where it had been held for 20+ years, before that it was in a private collection in New Jersey, America.
