About the Item
Original oil on canvas painting of the Cafe Pepinier in Paris by Andre Picot. Condition is very good. Signed lower left by the artist. Titled “Cafe Pepinier and signed verso on stretcher as well. The painting is housed in its original gold wood frame in fine condition. Overall framed measurements are 20.75 by 24.75 inches.
Andre Picot was born in France in 1910. Although Picot studied briefly at the Ecole des Beaux Arts in Rouen he was essentially a self taught artist and began painting at an early age. Until 1956 he took part in small group exhibitions and regional salons in Rouen and Normandy. He held solo shows in Paris as well. He is known for his Parisian Street scenes and famous landmarks of the city. He died in 1992.
