Anne Faith Nicholls is a unique contemporary artist, illustrator, curator, and collector whose work is published and exhibited around the world. Nicholls is most recognized for her original paintings and exhibitions, which have earned her acclaim with art critics and collectors alike. She has also contributed to a variety of high-profile commercial projects, with corporate clients such as VANS, Wind Up Records, GenArt, Visa and Keds Shoes.
Nicholls’ artwork provides a refreshing look at the soul of the modern woman and artist, speaking with a truly contemporary voice, a unique narrative style and an independent spirit. Described as a Neo-Surrealist or Neo-Folk-Surrealist artist, her work is both dark and inspirational, pulling from her personal experience and her own beliefs. She is most inspired by American Folk art, French, Mexican and Socialist Surrealism and Society Portraiture of the 19th and early 20th century. Her folk aesthetic has an inviting familiarity that encourages the viewer to explore the work and understand the nuances. With recurring themes such as love, anger, cleansing, and environmentalism Nicholls touches on universal concerns, yet she creates from a highly personalized narrative place. Like many Neo-Surrealists, she has created over time her own recurring symbols that aid her expression. The most common symbols in her art include cleansing rains, destructive flames, lightning, women, hands, animals, and the human heart. The fascinating result is a classically trained oil painter steeped in the highly personal dreamworld of surrealist metaphysics.

Anne Faith Nicholls
Anne Faith Nicholls is a painter living and working in California, based in Venice Beach and Palm Springs. She is originally from Victoria, Canada. Her original paintings have been featured in private collections, galleries, and museums throughout the world, and her illustration work has been featured in many art-related publications. Nicholls’ early career success began in the California Pop Surrealist and "Low Brow" movements, appearing regularly in Juxtapoz Magazine, and as a Van's Artist Brand Ambassador. However, she hesitates to confine herself to recent contemporary movements, citing inspiration from Surrealist and traditional painting as more key to her work. She currently identifies most closely with the Neo-Surrealism and Neo-Folk movements. Nicholls was born with a backwards heart and had 3 open-heart surgeries to correct her ailment. Naturally, art was a mellow and solitary activity that she gravitated to from a very young age. Her formal artistic education began soon after when her mother noticed her acute interest in the arts. As an only child with a working mother, Nicholls subsequently spent much of her school years quietly working on projects and paintings. After receiving accolades and scholarships in high school, she entered Seattle Pacific University as an Art and Business double major. She eventually received her Bachelor’s of Fine Arts in Illustration from the Academy of Art University in San Francisco, CA. with a specialization in 20th Century Art History. She also completed a Study Abroad Semester in Italy with the Academy of Art University where she studied classical painting, and had a brief internship at the Peggy Guggenheim Museum on the Grand Canal in Venice. Since then her obsession with travel and seeing the greatest artworks in person has compelled her to study great paintings throughout France, Germany, Hungary, The Netherlands, Austria, The Czech Republic, Italy, Canada, Spain, Belgium, Brussels and Latin America. These experiences have created a classically trained oil painter, one who has developed a unique technique of utilizing both oil paint and acrylic paint to achieve a signature layered look with a saturated, antiqued, color pallet. Described as a Neo-Surrealist, or Neo-Folk-Surrealist artist, Nicholls’ work is both dark and enlightening, pulling from her personal experience and her own beliefs. The ‘folksy’ feel of much of her work lends an inviting familiarity which draws the viewer in to its nuances. With recurring themes such as love, anger, cleansing, and the environment Nicholls offers food for thought that many can identify with yet she nonetheless creates these images from a highly personalized narrative place.

- Carmelo Niño, Carolina niña con Marina, 2021, 350 x 200 cm, 137.7 x 78.7 in.By Carmelo NiñoLocated in Miami, FLCarmelo Niño Carolina niña con Marina, 2021 Acrylic on canvas 350 x 200 cm 137.7 x 78.7 in. The work is accompanied by a certificate of authenticity signed by the artist. Carmelo Niño, a Venezuelan artist originally from Maracaibo, Zulia State, an oil-producing region of Venezuela, is today one of the most outstanding painters in the plastic arts landscape in the country. Many years have passed since his birth in 1951 to the present, when he inaugurates this August 2022, a major exhibition at the Ascaso Gallery in Miami, with paintings from different dates resulting from the permanent and daily work of reflection, physical and intellectual, that he has always pursued in his creative life. Without neglecting a single moment of day-to-day life to be in front of the medium-sized canvas on the easel or of larger canvas hanging on a wall, he works in his large studio in the area of El Junco, outside the capital city of Caracas, surrounded by lush green vegetation, with a wonderful climate of pleasant temperature and poetic mist that invites to the reverie and glorification of his life as a painter. From a very early age Niño and his family discovered his vocation for drawing, a discipline in which he showed a special disposition and talent. From this moment on he dedicates his life to art, to the practice of painting, starting from a fantastic and strange world of fantasy, close to surrealism, unfailingly influenced by the circus of fantasy owned by his mother and a musician father. These circumstances will shape the artist's life. His traces and influences from the beginning will be present in his creative work, especially through the memories of the infinite curiosity to look, touch and be enraptured by the strange furniture and objects from his mother's circus that he knew were deposited in a room of the house. This universe of fantasy will leave an indelible mark on his subconscious and will serve as the thematic and artistic support for all his work. In an interview conducted by the critic Roberto Montero Castro in 1977, Carmelo Niño states, "the symbols of my painting come from the everyday life". His life has been one of continuous work and effort. At the age of fifteen he enrolled in the School of Arts of Maracaibo, graduated three years later, 1966, and immediately, with a scholarship, he travelled to Spain, took a few courses at the San Fernando Academy in Madrid, strengthened his preparation in art workshops and in frequent visits to the big museums of this European capital. With a sensitive gaze he penetrates the mysteries of masterpieces of the great artists who have made the universal history of art. His life as a painter has been intense, of intense study, preparation and work. With much composure and modesty he talks about his life and his artistic production, recognized not only in Venezuela, but also internationally. His participation in exhibitions began in 1969 and as early as 1970 he held his first individual exhibition at the Fine Arts Center of Maracaibo. From these dates onwards successes started to come, with the participation in collective and individual exhibitions, in Venezuela and abroad, as well as the awards from 1971, when he won the Scholarship Award at the First National Salon of Young Artists in Maracay, Aragua State; in 1972 he was awarded the Second Prize at the Regional Salon of Maracaibo. 1975 is the year of awards, he received the First Prize at the IV Salon of Young Artists in Caracas; the Aurelio Rodriguez Award at the IV Avellan Salon in Caracas and the First Prize at the Salon of Young Zulian Artists in Maracaibo; he also participated in the group exhibition of History of Painting in Venezuela, at Casa de Las Americas, Havana, Cuba; and in 1976 he was invited by Jose Gomez Sicre to take part in the exhibition of Venezuelan painting...Category

- Bulb of Africa 1Located in Ibadan, OyoBulb of Africa was not just a hairstyle; it was a celebration of African heritage and a testament to the resilience of its people. Passed down through generations, it represented strength, beauty, and the rich tapestry of African traditions. The Bulb showcased the natural texture and volume of African hair, transforming it into an intricate masterpiece of braids, twists, and coils. The Bulb of Africa became a symbol of empowerment, reminding people of their strength, resilience, and the beauty of their shared heritage. It served as a reminder that hair was more than a physical attribute; it was a connection to something greater—a connection to their ancestors, their community, and celebrating the beauty within themselves. Beyond their physical beauty, African women possess an immeasurable inner strength that resonates through "Bulb of Africa." Odunayo masterfully captures this strength, highlighting the resilience and determination that have defined African women throughout history. The women depicted in the artwork emanate confidence, wisdom, and a sense of purpose. Their gaze speaks volumes, embodying the stories of countless African women who have overcome adversity, shattered barriers, and carved out their own paths to success. In "Bulb of Africa," Iyiola Odunayo...Category
