Ben Cameron was born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. His education followed his broad spectrum of interests in the arts. His first degree was from St. Louis University in 1962 in Speech and Dramatic Art. Then he studied fashion at Traphagen School of Fashion in New York in 1964. As he turned more toward visual art, he studied Studio Art and Art History at Washington University in St. Louis from 1963-65. He earned his MA in painting from the University of Iowa in 1966 and then followed his professor to The University of Cincinnati for the MFA Painting in 1967. Cameron began his teaching career in Fashion and Art at Stephens College,Columbia, Missouri, then moved on to the University of Missouri, straddling the same two fields. In 1974 he began his long tenure in the Art Department at Columbia College, retiring in 2015. He especially enjoyed his turn at running the Larson Gallery. His classrooms usually had the appearance of a combination of a giant still life with examples of work and source material for art. Between the above dates he packed in a career teaching the arts and prolific production of paintings, prints, and drawings. Cameron’s unique style and voice as a painter became evident with a series of highly-expressive, representational scenes painted large scale in the mid to late 1960s. These works contain a very broad palette with numerous colors forming every area of light and shadow. Still lifes with the same, highly-energetic color work and thick paint application are interspersed with figurative works of this era. Later paintings focus on singular subjects and bold, solid background fields.

- Agreement with Mother-III : Surrealistic, Mixed Media on Court Paper "In Stock"By Pradosh SwainLocated in Kolkata, West BengalPradosh Swain - Agreement with Mother-III – 8.2 x 11.5 inches (unframed size) Mixed Media on a INR 100 Court Paper ( used to make a legal agreement ) Inclusive of shipment in a roll form Style : Pradosh’s works can be described as psychic automatism in its pure state. His works are expressive and his palette vibrant and gorgeous. Nature is the frequent imagery that we see in his paintings. Sometimes his imagery is outlandish, perplexing and uncanny as it is meant to shake the viewer and make them to think beyond the theories which they have guarded themselves with. Lot of elements that we see in pradosh’s paintings also come from his childhood days in Odisha. like the cock, kite or the bioscope. As a young boy also he used to enjoy nature study and it became his daily routine to go and sit amongst trees and birds and observe them very closely, which made him gain mastery over water colour medium. Pradosh’s paintings have a surrealistic quality, the imagery is dreamy and mystical and rendering is such as if there is some kind of romance and magic happening amongst the colours in his palette. His paintings are the result of brilliant culminations of feelings and things that are between imagination and reality. They reflect his genuine concern about issues he feels for. He emphasizes on the power of imagination and believes that revelation could be found anywhere….on the streets and in everyday life. Through his paintings artist depicts the notion that how our high pace life is making all of us loose that contact from the nature or even with ourselves.
