Looking Up in the Forest For Change is a tree Emz painted after visiting the Forest for Change that was planted in Somerset House courtyard in the summer of 2021 as part of the London Design Biennale. This forest was planted to raise awareness of the UN global goals for sustainable development. It was a powerful installation that Emz was lucky to visit and take sketches at. This painting is part of a series called Look Up Trees. Emz spends time with trees daily to help her mind heal from PTSD in 2021. She has 'grown' over 140 trees in oil paint and digitally on her ipad. The mindful painting process she's established helps her to recognise and work through some difficult emotions. She's currently working on ways she can share these tools with others through a mindful sketching practice.
