About the Item
French modernist glazed ceramic monkey sculpture by Gabriel Beauvais,1930. This sculpture was made in a turquoise blue glaze ceramic, a stunning color most likely by Kaza Edition in Paris. The shape and style in the cubist style give this unique piece a lot of personality.
Sculptor Gabriel Beauvais was mainly known for his animal creations during the Art Deco period. Clearly signed G.Beauvais. The posture of this piece is particularly appealing, with crossed arms, hands, and figures lending a relatively relaxed feeling to the design. This piece is much more interesting than some of the more typical stylized animals that Beauvais is known for.
