George Edward Robertson
George Edward Robertson (born 1864) painted portraits, landscapes, figurative and Shakespearean subjects. He studied at St Martin’s School of Art and under his father, William Robertson. He exhibited between 1883 and 1926 and twenty of his works featured at the Royal Academy between 1885 and 1904. These included In the Meadows, East Bergholt, Calling Home the Cows, and subjects from King Lear, Julius Caesar, and Othello.
He also exhibited at the Society of British Artists, the Royal Institute of Oil Painters, Manchester City Art Gallery, Walker Art Gallery, Liverpool, and the Glasgow Institute of Fine Arts. He was based in London.
