A native of Buenos Aires, Argentina, Henry Jr. unlike his father became interested in art somewhat later in life in his early twenties. As a means of supplementing his income while in college he began to paint. His early success encouraged him to intensify his training and become increasingly more involved with art and oil painting. Not too long after graduating from college with a degree in Biology, he decided instead to devote his full time to oil painting. Such was his confidence in his ability and devotion to his art. Shortly tafter he returned to Argentina to complete his training in the arts, graduating from the University of Fine Arts in Buenos Aires.Since then, Henry D. Ramirez Jr., has had many one-man shows in Argentina as well as in the United States, w he has exhibited from Coast to Coast. Having made Nevada his permanent home, Henrys work is exhibited in galleries of Beverly Hills, Palm Springs and Florida. Collectors of both father and sons work include numerous celebrities.Henrys diverse subject matter ranges from colorfully rich landscapes, cityscape, to dramatic seascapes as well as a variety of still life. Of all his specialties, snowcaps are probably his favorite and most dramatic. These snowcaps keenly express the mood and atmosp of a cold winter day. Like his father, Henry Jr. draws from his classical training utilizing many of the tools of the Old Masters, such as painting on copper, silk, wood panel and canvas as well as making many of his own unique colors. The richness in texture and color as well as his attention to detail are two of the primary factors that highlight his work.

  • Landmark
    By Bruce Richards
    Located in San Francisco, CA
Artist: Bruce Richards – American (1948-) Title: Landmark Year: 1989 Medium: Oil on canvas Size: 62 x 36 inches. Framed size: 64 x 38 inches Signature: Signed, dated, titled en verso Condition: Very good This painting has a wonderful presence. I believe it is from Richards’ “Change in the Weather Series”. The sky and the figure in the painting change in various paintings in the series. This is a relatively peaceful figure (sword at side) and fair sky (blue, no clouds). Other works from this series are more turbulent. Richards is an uncommon artist whose work is both conceptually and aesthetically engaging. The sky in this painting has a beautiful luminosity and depth. The painting measures 62” x 36” (64” x 38” framed). It is composed of oil on canvas and is in very good condition. The frame is also in good condition and works well with the painting. • "Lady in yellow", 19th Century oil on panel by Rogelio de Egusquiza y Barrena
By Rogelio de Egusquiza y Barrena
    Located in Madrid, ES
ROGELIO DE EGUSQUIZA Y BARRENA LADY IN YELLOW signed "R. Egusquiza" (lower right) oil on panel 28-5/8 X 20-3/4 inches (72.5 X 52.7 cm.) framed: 32-5/8 X 24-3/4 inches (82.5 X 62.5 cm.) Rogelio de Egusquiza y Barrena (1845 – 10 February 1915) was a Spanish painter, known for his friendship with the German composer Richard Wagner, whose works he helped make familiar in Spain He was born in El Astillero, into a well-to-do family. He studied in Madrid and with Léon Bonnat at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris. In 1868, after travelling and participating several times in the National Exhibition of Fine Arts, he returned to Paris and settled there. At first, he painted historical scenes, but later turned to genre scenes and portraits in the Academic style. Following the death of Marià Fortuny, he moved to Rome at the invitation of the Madrazos, Raimundo and Ricardo, taking Fortuny's place at their studio through 1875 and attending classes at the Spanish Academy in Rome. He heard Wagner's music for the first time in 1876, after returning to Paris. Three years later, he travelled to Munich to hear a performance of The Ring of the Nibelungen. His enthusiasm for what he heard led him to go to Bayreuth, where he introduced himself to Wagner and became his friend. In the following years, he and Wagner got together again several times; in Venice (1880), Berlín (1881) and Bayreuth (1882); where he was a guest at the premiere of Parsifal. After his first meeting with Wagner, he decided to devote his career to doing works on Wagnerian themes; mostly portraits of the characters rather than specific scenes. During his visits to Germany, he also created portraits of Arthur Schopenhauer (posthumous) and King Ludwig II...
